Creating or Improving Your Own Christian Treatment Program
Today’s Current Christian Treatment Landscape
Over the last 20 years, because society has become more stressed and psychological struggles have increased, we’ve realized modern science was not enough. We need more, so the desire and push for holistic treatment was energized, especially for those with Behavioral Health struggles (Addiction or Mental Health). In fact, scientific literature continuously validates the power of spirituality and faith to aid in recovery, healing, renewing the mind, and lasting life transformation.
However, most treatment programs fall woefully short of incorporating a legitimate spiritual component. When spirituality is incorporated, it is usually vague, non-Biblical and poorly integrated into various talk therapies like psycho-educational groups, process groups, or other psychotherapeutic treatment modalities – CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Meditation, Emotion Focused Therapy, or Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Without Jesus, divine power from the Holy Spirit is lacking.
When Christian spirituality is infused, the program is stronger, but it is often limited to a Sunday service, prayer meeting, Bible study, or occasional individual session with a chaplain or pastoral counselor, not a trained therapist. Some programs emphasize Bible memorization, but for many hurting people, memorization alone doesn’t connect the spiritual principles with the inner hurt, loss, or healing the individual needs or the psycho-spiritual equipping with practical skills required to establish and continue a powerful faith-based walk.

The resulting holistic approach not only addresses and deepens our understanding of all three spheres of spirit, mind, and body, but more importantly, shows the patient how God designed us by braiding them powerfully together. Dr. Akoto’s design also eases the practical implementation for staff and application for the patients.
Who Our Expertise Typically Helps
Who we consult to usually fall into one of 2 categories:
- A medical-model addiction or mental health program wanting to develop a Christian track or program to go alongside their traditional track.
- A Christian residential ministry with some counseling component, but wants to improve the psychological component, integrate the Christian principles more tightly in the talk therapy, or improving their medical services. The medical upgrades could be in the form of become more comfortable accepting residents on psych meds, understanding how the Bible really renews brain circuits, or developing a detox partner for some of their residents.
Their goals are 2-fold:
- Be able to provide services to a wider range of people
- Provide a more holistic Spirit, Mind, Body treatment experience through deeper integration or increased braiding of the 3 spheres.
Working with hundreds of facilities and programs around the country, we know what works, what doesn’t, and what gaps are in the faith-based Behavioral Healthcare system. We help various partners increase, improve, or expand their services either internally or by connecting them with collaborative partners to provide better care and improve their business model for longer term sustainability and outreach.
Our Consulting Passion
The B.I.B.L.E is the Best Instruction Book for Living Everyday and the most accurate representation of this world and our mind. Jesus is the Great Physician and Wonderful Counselor, which is the perfect psychiatrist. Jesus himself said:
In Luke 4, Jesus states He is the one who came to heal the broken hearted and set the captives free.
In Luke 5:31-32, Jesus reveals – It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not called the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
In Matthew 13:15, Jesus prescribes … lest they see with their eyes, hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.
Jesus came to bring a psychospiritual healing beyond our wildest dreams. He revolutionary teaching and perfect application of Biblical principles started a Behavioral Health revolution we are called to continue today.
We desire for all healing programs to deliver as much biological, psychological, and spiritual depth as possible then braid these 3 spheres together like a strong rope emulating the Trinity itself. While no program is perfect in all 3 spheres, we know every treatment program can improve in each of the spheres and especially intertwining them together. This is what our expertise and passion truly is, because hearts would be healed, minds renewed, lives transformed and this would glorify God and the name of Jesus.
We would love to help you be part of this revolution and collaborate in some way to glorify God and help those who struggle. You will be blessed by our expertise and ideas and amazed at our fees as we often freely give it away.
