Stepping Stones: Getting Along

Transformational Tip
Do you often disagree with people? It is okay to disagree, but guard your attitude. We all know people that get along well with others. They seem to get along with everyone from the neighborhood butcher to their own families. How do they do it? Simple. They show a genuine interest in others. When they are with you they are with you. It’s pretty easy to spot a “put on” compared to a genuine persona. Take interest in the person, not what they do, because God brought them into your life for a reason. Figure out how you can grow to become more Christ-like and help them become more Christ-like at the same time.

Prayer
Father God, it is so important to my relationship with You that I love others. Help me to be sensitive and caring in my speech. Give me a sense of humor that is funny but not demeaning to others. Teach me to really listen when someone speaks to me. I desire to be genuine and my heart relies on You Father. Teach me to respect the opinions of others while still maintaining unity. Help me accept and love others while not condoning sinful behaviors. I ask this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

The Truth
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interest of others.
Philippians 2: 3-4
How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity
Psalm 133:1
The greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And the second is to love your neighbor as yourself. There are no commandments greater than these.
Mark 12: 30 – 31
