Stepping Stones: Don’t Spoil the Brownies!

Stepping Stones: Don’t Spoil the Brownies!

Transformational Tip
Faith is everything. Faith is a gift given to all of us; we just have to find a way to not mess it up. Read what Jesus tells us in Mark 9:23 – that all things are possible to him who believes. So what gets in our way? Unbelief. This is where Satan spends most of his time. His lies, deceptions, are crafted to create and foster unbelief. As Michael Pink wrote: Letting unbelief into our minds spoils our faith. It’s like putting dog do-do into the brownie mix…doesn’t take much to spoil the brownies.
Remember the simple formula to spiritual maturity; Believe > Receive > Become. Today, take a deep look and identify an area of your life where unbelief/deception has a stronghold. Don’t believe God’s forgiveness is complete…you deserve more…God isn’t all powerful…You know what’s best for you…other people’s feelings or opinions are all powerful…looks/fashion are more important than God’s desires for us…I am too old to change…we all could go on with infinite examples. Take a couple minutes and click the Past Devotional link below and list examples you have seen in others or struggle with yourselves. (just hit the comment link at the bottom of the devotional) Add how God has helped you become aware or improve in those areas to encourage others who might be struggling with similar issues. Restore your faith today and begin walking in the authority you know deep down inside that has been given you by your Lord.

Prayer
Dear Father God,
I thank You for the wonderful gift of faith. I know that all things that come from You are perfect…and it is me that reduces my faith to the point that lets other things get in my way of Believing and then Receiving You in the full measure intended by You. I pray Father that You fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I say to You as the boy’s father said in Mark 9:24; “I do believe; help me overcome my disbelief.”
Fill me with faith Lord so that I may follow wherever You lead me. I want to follow wholeheartedly, with the anticipation of Your Joy and Peace quickening my pace. I don’t not know what lies ahead…but You know and that’s enough for me. I know that more blessings are right around the corner. I pray Lord that today You help me walk by faith, not by sight. I pray to You with faith and expectation in the name of Jesus – and all God’s people said – AMEN!

The Truth
“If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Mark 9:23
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
Eph 1:3
Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!
Mark 9:24
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
Romans 12:3

one of this issues I struggle with in my faith is that only Christians are saved. What about the other good and faithful people in the world? I believe that my God is a loving God not a God of punishment and wrath. Help me to understand how my God could leave out so many good people from heaven simply because they have not received Christ as their Savior?

some of these things are beyond our understanding. God is loving and is always pursuing us. if we keep rejecting him, over and over daily, it is not Him who is leaving them out, they have chosen, many times a day, day after day, to live their life without God. after many warnings, God finally lets them have what they have desired and demanded.
that is the best sense i make out of it. it is one of the biggest questions there is regarding God's love and fairness. he has been so right in everything else and has overextended on our behalf, i can imagine Him being wrong or shortchanging us on this one.
    thanks for your thoughts
