Today’s reading offers us insight on the intent of our prayer sessions as we enter in; Why are we here? Are we approaching God’s immense sea of grace for a sip or to be immersed? As Casey writes, it is a matter of bringing prayer into our hearts more than bringing our hearts into prayer. The difference may sound subtle, but the results are not. As prayer, more specifically God’s presence, animates our lives, we are walking in the Spirit and not the flesh. This is where God will have His greatest impact on our hearts, and through our lives into the lives of others. Prayer becomes more effectual through practice. We can talk about it and read about it and study it, and that’s all well and good, but in practicing prayer we grow! Set aside time to pray today. The busier our schedules, the more time we should pencil in for prayer! —DH
