Power Through Constructive Thinking
We often approach prayer for its efficacy in situations and scenarios that we encounter, hoping to move the hand of our God in one direction or another in relation to matters at hand. In reality, prayer’s biggest impact is internal; prayer changes the one praying! This is what today’s reading describes, saying, “long after the visible demonstration … the prayer that produced it continues to work for your (the one who prays) spiritual advancement.” This is why we should “hallow Thy name” as we pray, recognizing God will do as He wills, and that this is in our best interest. This is the ‘not my will, but Thine’ heart attitude we need to cultivate. My prayer for you today is to realize God’s presence in your prayers to the extent that you meet Him in the work He is doing in your heart as intensely as what you hope to see Him move in the situation before you. —DH
