Fifty New York City Schools to Offer Morning-After Pills to Teen Girls Without Parental Consent

As news outlets debated the pros and cons of New York City schools dispensing the morning-after pill to high-school girls as young as fourteen without parental consent, most ignored two critical problems: why teen pregnancy continues to occur, despite education about the results, and what the unintended consequences of pushing a pill to prevent a problem may be.

According to Lighthouse Network, it’s a formula for failure.
Lighthouse Network agrees with Dr. Bernadine Healey, who wrote in U.S. News and World Report that “high school abstinence is associated with better physical and mental health across socioeconomic groups.” Additionally, Healey states that

“Kids who can make abstinence decisions do better in school, too, even when the comparison group was matched for social background and the desire to pursue education. Abstinent teens are far more likely to attend and graduate from college than those who are sexually active, based on an analysis of the NIH-supported National Longitudinal Survey of Adolescent Health by Robert Rector and Kirk Johnson”

Lighthouse Network promotes Christian counseling and therapy programs, recognizing that God has the ultimate power and ability to completely heal the whole person, so that one doesn’t need to turn to a pill or risky behaviors in order to get through life.
